Alienware 15 Laptop Review

Alienware stands for top performance, exclusive design and individuality. This becomes clear already when unpacking. Everything is stylishly packaged in Alienware 15 and Alienware provided with typical accessories. These include a bound and detailed in leather manual, a soft case, a mouse pad and a baseball cap. But not only that accessories can be proud of. The inner values of the new 15-inch model are among the best that can have a notebook with this form factor. In addition to Intel's new Core i7 720QM processor are 4 GB of DDR3 memory installed.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics card provides the necessary support and games data can be accommodated on a fast rotating 250 GB hard disk. Furthermore, our test unit equipped with the optional 9-cell battery and the operating system is Windows 7 in Home Premium 64 bit Edition. The design of the Alienware 15 is identical to its big brother Alienware 17 and examined in comparison to other notebooks of his peers. The muscular appearance impresses with aggressive lines. The openings in the front and back are strongly reminiscent of sports cars a la Lamborghini. Subtle performances are hardly possible with the 15 incher. At the latest after power will feel attracted by a variety of illuminated elements glances.

Overall, the Alienware 15 has a very high quality. The material quality is very good and unmatched in the 15 and 16-inch notebooks. However, the notebook looks more like a 17 incher. What not least is due to the massive chassis. Satte 4.2 kg weighs the 15-incher. So hard was not previously tested 15 or 16-inch notebook and even most 17-inch laptops bring less weight on the scale. But the massive housing ensures very good workmanship. Everything is very robust and stable. For almost all processing criteria, the testers were awarded full marks. Only the illuminated keyboard has to take a 3 to a 2 settle (3 = maximum). In the bottom right corner it does not sit on our test model very firmly. When using the arrow keys, the keyboard begins to rattle slightly. In contrast, the remaining regions have good strength and give only when stronger after pressure.

All keys have standard size and layout corresponds to the lack of a numeric numeric keypad, the normal keyboards. They are joined by a very good suspension and a clear pressure point. Both player and prolific writer will have no problems. Above the keyboard the Quick Touch control pad, with touch-sensitive sensors for energy management and media control. The individual QuickTouch elements can be easily operated, but could still a little further apart. In our community buyers reported initial problems with entries via the keypad in low-power stealth mode. This led to long delays. Our test model that is no longer the case. This has been rectified by Alienware.

The touchpad was affected and entries should be initially impossible. Quite so bad it's not on our test model. Only a slight latency is perceptible at inputs. But is hardly noticeable. Alienware 15 would not be Alienware notebook, if it would not offer a variety of individual lighting options. Like the 17-inch Alienware 17, Alienware 15 when there are an infinite number of combination options. The keyboard shines when necessary same in four different colors. About the Alien FX tool can be any LEDs (front, touchpad, cover, media bar etc.) individually. About AlienSense users can set different security settings. For example, the notebook can recognize users via facial scan. Users can then selectively decide whether a registration via password or via face detection is to be done.

Alienware Alienware 15 gaming notebook is new as the big brother Alienware 17 a unique and enjoyable gaming notebook. Processing and perceived quality within the area of the 15- and 16-inch gaming notebooks of their peers. However, hand in hand with a full weight of 4.2 Kg. Even most 17-inch notebooks put less on the scales. For regular shipments to the 15-inch model is therefore suitable only conditionally. Rather, the Alienware 15 is a compact desktop replacement.

Enough power it has all. The Intel Core i7 720QM processor ensures a very good application performance (1,221 PassMark points). Nvidia's GeForce GTX 260M graphics card has enough power to play the latest games with liquid high resolutions and details - 11,805 3DMark06 points. They are joined by very good results in the development of heat and fan noise level, and one of the best displays among gaming notebooks. For Place 1 of our TOP10 of 15- and 16-inch gaming notebooks it not quite enough. Clevos W860CU here is still at the top, which is partly due to the better performance results by the Intel Core i7 820QM and the other to the better facilities, such as the Blu-ray drive and HDMI. Overall, it just makes the better quality and overall impression, with great accessories and nice features, such as Alien FX.
